Mind your Health

About this blog

This is an advice blog run by someone who is very close to receiving their Bachelors in psychology. (ie: I can’t seem to pass math, but otherwise the psychology requirements are met ) whom wants to pass on the benefits of mental health.

The mental health field receives a lot of stigma in today’s society, and I hope to remove that a little bit at a time. While I can not change the world’s view on it, I hope to change people’s views on their own mental health.

Think about it like this; if you got an infection, would anyone call you an invalid for going to the doctor to get antibiotics? No! But if they did, would you choose not to go and let your infection turn into sepsis? No! Of course not! So then why do we not go in for a little psychological help? Why are we “crazy” for seeking therapy?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned its that we’re not born with the ability to cope with our day to day lives. Whether it be stress, loss, or just a bad day we have to learn how to handle these things. For the most part our coping methods develop themselves, just like your immune system, and with the help of parents and peers guiding your development. But when you’re struggling, a little dose of psychological penicillin can make all the difference. And there’s nothing wrong with seeking that.

Please ask questions about your own experiences, case studies are far more constructive than simple DSM lists of symptoms. a disorder can affect people in many different ways. More importantly, you don’t need to have a “disorder” to have problems.
